First American's Home Office Campus in Santa Ana partners with the Southwest Community Center to relieve hunger and help the environment. Each day, the leftover prepared food from the campus cafeteria is collected and placed in sealed containers for collection twice a week by the center, where it will be used for daily meals.
The Southwest Community Center has been serving the homeless and low-income members of the community for more than 44 years. By serving several meals daily and distributing bags of food three times a week, the center serves more than 7,000 people a year.
This new partnership with the Southwest Community Center also plays a part in First American's overall corporate sustainability program by reducing food waste. As with many sustainability efforts, minor solutions can contribute to major impact. By donating the leftover food from its cafeteria, First American is helping to minimize food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste in the local community.
