Homebuilder True Life elbows into crowded Silicon Valley market

Another home developer has entered the crowded Silicon Valley market. The True Life Cos. is building a presence here for the first time since it relaunched under a new name three years ago.

The San Ramon company — formerly known as Americap Development Partners — in 2011 reformulated itself, bringing on new partners and investors. While it has sizable projects in various stages of development in Kona, Hawaii; Aurora, Colo.; multiple regions in Arizona; and the California's East Bay and Central Valley, the new company has not developed or built here.

Until now. True Life is currently in contract on a 5.9-acre industrial building in San Jose's Berryessa neighborhood, where it is wrapping up permits to construct about 140 homes. The property is located close to the under-construction Berryessa BART station and the San Jose Flea Market, where the huge public builder KB Home is busy putting up hundreds of new rooftops.
