A new developer and investor is taking a crack at the Spansion headquarters in Sunnyvale, a 24.5-acre site where two previous homebuilders once eyed major new residential communities.
An affiliate of Watt Companies has bought the office park, located at 915 De Guigne Drive, according to a deed filed Thursday. A confirmed price was not immediately available, but I'll update this story when I learn more.
The deal means Spansion, a company whose in-progress turnaround we told you about in-depth back in June, will soon be on the move: A company spokeswoman said the flash-memory maker would lease back the property for about a year while it seeks a new location for its approximately 450 local employees.
"We're in an older facility and looking to upgrade and have a more modern corporate campus," said spokeswoman Michele Landry.
