A housing project similar to Eskaton Village in Roseville could break ground as soon as next summer in Elk Grove.

Brian Spilman, vice president of land acquisition for developer Silverado Homes, said Silverado Village, which would include both age-restricted housing and some typical single-family homes, is in line to get final entitlements from the city of Elk Grove early next year.

“It takes you about six months to get from tentative map to final map,” Spilman said. “If it’s not underway by next summer, we’d probably hold off until the following spring.”

He explained state regulations make it risky from a water quality standpoint to begin any large developments after mid-October, and Silverado Village would fit in that definition.

The project would have 660 homes in three villages, including 230 “patio” homes where residents would have to be at least 55 years old. The village with the patio homes would also have a lodge for up to 125 units for assisted living, independent living and memory care, Spilman said.
