In a city where the construction cranes are clustered in Mid-Market, SoMa, and Mission Bay, Grosvenor’s boutique condo development at Pacific and Polk stands out.
“We are the furthest tower crane to the north,” said Steve O’Connell, vice president of development for the group.
Working in a joint venture with builder Nick Podell, who entitled the site, Grosvenor is doing its first ever San Francisco condo project, 39 residential units above three retail spaces. The project is being designed by BAR Architects and built by Cahill Contractors. It will be completed in the spring of 2014.
The design is inspired by the pre-war design aesthetic of Pacific Heights. The entrance and storefront at 1645 Pacific St. will be clad in solid, dark wood paneling, while the rest of the facade will be a lighter-toned smooth stone with wrought-iron gates and railings. The lobby floors and walls will be marble, with big crown and base detailing throughout the building.
“Grosvenor has a real appetite for elegance,” said O’Connell. “We spent a lot of time trying to strike that balance between being inspired by the older pre-war style but bringing a modern elegant feel to it.”
