Developer would repurpose creamery site as homes

The formal Crystal Cream & Butter Company production site north of downtown Sacramento could become a 98-home infill subdivision within the next year, if a proposal submitted to the city Monday moves ahead.

As proposed, The Creamery would be on 7.5 acres north of E Street between 10th and 11th streets, with market-rate homes ranging from about 1,600 square feet to 2,000 square feet.

Project applicant Lewis Land Developers LLC’s vice president of community development, Phil Rodriguez, said The Creamery would be attractive both because of its proximity to downtown and easy access to transportation, about a block away from the Sacramento light-rail line.
