Here’s a number that spells opportunity to developers and investors: 360,000. That’s the number of new jobs San Jose will add by 2035, according to the Association of Bay Area Governments. And it’s one reason — along with better access to capital — that developers are finally pulling the trigger on residential projects again. According to Michael Bills, a senior planner for San Jose, residential permit activity could reach record levels this year. As further validation, Ivanhoé Cambridge, a Canadian public pension fund subsidiary, announced this week a $171 million deal to build a luxury apartment community with Shea Properties off Cottle Road.
